PFI preparation planner

Organise the records, people and access needed for your notified inspection.

Your worksheet

Before you decide

Start with the BCA notice

BCA describes a seven-year inspection cycle for buildings within the PFI regime. Applicability and exceptions depend on the building. This planner does not decide whether your property is legally due; confirm the notice and current criteria with BCA and your appointed professional.

Keep statutory and access roles clear

The building owner appoints a Competent Person (CP). The CP is responsible for the statutory inspection; a Façade Inspector assists under the CP’s supervision and control. Rope-access qualifications alone do not establish CP or accredited FI status.

Agree the deliverables

Separate statutory inspection and submission, access and survey assistance, and any subsequent rectification. Agree defect-location records, photographs, access limitations, occupied-area controls and the handover required by the CP.
